A family from Kyiv made it to the border.

A Nuremberger took her to Germany.

The woman fled Kyiv with her mother and two children on Tuesday.

“We only ran because the situation got worse.

“We were all very afraid.

It was just too dangerous in Kyiv.

We had to leave the city as quickly as possible,” she says.

They only took the children's budgie with them.

On the train from Kyiv to the border there was no place for luggage.

When they got there, they happened to meet Dave and Thomas from Nuremberg.

The duo traveled more than 1,000 kilometers to bring donations in kind and take people with them to Germany.

The journey from Franconia to the Polish-Ukrainian border took 10 hours.
