The General Film Corporation launched the official special screening of the feature film (A Tale in Damascus), written by Samah Al-Kattal and directed by Ahmed Ibrahim Ahmed, in his second collaboration with the Foundation, in the Drama Hall at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.
The film, which takes place in Old Damascus, depicts the impact of the war on the Syrian person away from its direct proposition and its repercussions on human relations and the state of identification between love as a sublime relationship and the city of Damascus, which helped it to withstand and continue.
Director General of the Cinema Foundation, Murad Shaheen, said: “The destruction caused by the absence of culture is no less powerful than the destruction caused by wars, and if war destroys homes, the absence of culture destroys lives and souls and turns them into deaf and empty vessels,” pointing out that culture with all its components is what gives us energy. The appropriate spirituality to confront devastation, to give our souls hope for tomorrow and fortify us in the face of all forms of invasion.
Film director Ahmad considered, in a statement to SANA, that the film Hekaya in Damascus is one of the thousands of stories that took place in this city during the war, with the hero of the Syrian man and the repercussions of the crisis on him.
Director Ahmed considered that it is the duty of cinema to shed light on people's lives and their reality, pointing out that there is a difference in work between television drama and cinema, as the latter depends on condensation and visual dazzle mainly in line with the show.
The artist Lujain Ismail, who embodies the character of a simple man who had an accident that affected his life, trying to hide him for a long time within a beautiful human composition, saw that this role differs from all his previous roles with its privacy, whether in his problems and the difficult circumstances surrounding him or his relationship with others.
The artist, Rana Karam, who embodies the character of Reem Coiffure, who has a beautiful social relationship with a group of her friends, lives with them in the old lanes of the Levant.
A story in Damascus starring the able artist Ghassan Masoud, Rana Karam and Ghadeer Salman, with guest artists Hassan Aweiti, Ali Karim, Amanah Wali, Ghada Bashour and Jamal Al-Ali.
The screening of the film was attended by a number of ministers, members of the People's Assembly and ambassadors, in addition to a number of directors of media and cultural institutions and a crowd of artists and media professionals.
