Hong Kong Community Anti-epidemic Link launched the "Anti-epidemic Material Support Scheme for Residential Care Homes for the Elderly" earlier. After receiving applications from more than 250 residential homes in Hong Kong, the materials were quickly arranged, and the New World and NWS Volunteer Teams also assisted in packaging. The supplies were delivered by volunteers of the "Caring Team Youth Action" and the "Eighteen District Anti-epidemic Love Team" to different residential care homes for the elderly, as well as the Tai Po Hong Chi Association Pine Hill School and Dormitory to support the needs of the residential homes for anti-epidemic materials. Today (6th) completed the first round of material packaging and delivery operations, delivering about 600,000 masks and 100,000 boxes of rapid test kits to nearly 200 elderly care homes in Hong Kong.


Chen Zhenbin, the general convener of the Hong Kong Community Anti-epidemic Connection, said that seeing the outbreak of the epidemic in many institutions, he hopes to provide more anti-epidemic materials to the institutions as soon as possible to protect the "friends" in the institutions. A total of 600,000 masks, 100,000 boxes of rapid detection reagents, traditional Chinese medicines and resistance-enhancing granules were distributed throughout the support plan.

Among the volunteers responsible for the intensive delivery of supplies, there is a father and son soldier.

Colin, a 12-year-old "cargo soldier" who is studying in Secondary 1, accompanied his father, Mr. Zhao, to the material center to deliver supplies to 6 elderly homes in Sai Ying Pun and Ap Lei Chau.

Colin thought it was meaningful to deliver supplies to the institutions in need, so he delivered the goods together with his father after the piano lessons on the same day.

Mr. Zhao revealed that he is engaged in the alcohol trade business and usually does not need to deliver goods in person. "But when it comes to the critical moment of fighting the epidemic, it is better to do it with the community instead of blaming others and waiting for death."

This weekend, the Zhao family will continue to deliver supplies to 14 homes.

Simon, who is engaged in the printing business, kept going in and out of the material center within two days, and sent the materials to 9 elderly homes.

He said with a smile that he was very familiar with the way, and his colleagues in the company also assisted him in handling and arranging the work at hand, so he had time to join the team to contribute to the fight against the epidemic.
