So how do you get started?

Hundreds of thousands of Israeli applications for German passports have been rejected in the past, because German law stipulated that a person could obtain German citizenship only if he was a descendant of a persecuted German citizen and had previously been denied citizenship by the Nazis.
The law in Germany was changed several months ago and the requirement to prove citizenship decreased.
It has now been determined that even if the persecuted person or his parents came to Germany from Poland or Eastern Europe, then his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will now be entitled to a German passport.
That is, if it could be proved that he was persecuted and if the Nazis had not come to power he could have obtained German citizenship and the center of his life would have been in Germany.
The new law created a wave of applications for a German passport.
However, it is very possible that in the near future the new government will grant the right to German citizenship under additional conditions, for example knowledge of the German language (as previously required in some cases), so it is recommended that anyone whose father or mother, grandparents were born or lived in Germany before 1933 And check his eligibility for German citizenship.
How to get started?
Since this is a German law, all legal proceedings are examined only according to the laws in Germany and are carried out in the German language.
There is no connection to the law in Israel.
The process consists of several tracks and each track has different requirements and conditions.
The choice of the appropriate route for obtaining German citizenship is made according to the circumstances of the case and the conditions of the appropriate German law on its various sections.
A claim and arguments must therefore be formulated in German and the application for German citizenship must be supported by appropriate documents, some of which must be located in various archives in Germany.
There are quite a few services on the Internet for obtaining a German passport, but quite a few of the offers on the Internet are from burglars, some of whom are even lawyers.
Because this is a legal proceeding, it is advisable not to seek the help of a "macher" but a lawyer, but here too, as with any referral to an expert in a particular field, it is imperative to test the skills of the person claiming to call himself an "expert" and not rely on statements on his website.
Answers to the following basic questions will give you an idea of how much the "expert" is really an expert: Have you ever studied citizenship law at the Faculty of Law in Germany?
Do you have an academic degree from a university in Germany?
Do your office staff speak German at a native language level so that they can know how to associate German documents with the relevant file and can help the lawyer concentrate all the many certificates and documents in the German language?
