Queen Elizabeth II has been on the British throne for decades.

But this era could soon come to an end, because she is said to want to leave Buckingham Palace.

London - palace or castle?

London or Berkshire?

When it comes to choosing your home, as a member of the royal family you are spoiled for choice, after all, you don't just have four walls in one place.

The British Queen was last seen mainly in Windsor Castle instead of Buckingham Palace.

Now it is even said that this could become permanent.

Because supposedly Elizabeth II wants to turn her back on the palace forever, as reported by tz.de.

The Queen moved from London to Berkshire because of the corona pandemic

Queen Elizabeth II has been sitting on the British throne for 70 years and, geographically speaking, it is actually firmly located in London.

But that could change fundamentally now, because the Queen has not been seen in Buckingham Palace there, the center of the English monarchy, for a long time.

Instead, she's preferred to stay at Windsor Castle lately.

At the beginning of the corona pandemic, Elizabeth II went there in isolation and rumor has it that she now wants to stay there.

"After living in Berkshire for two years, the monarch has no plans to return to London to Buckingham Palace," writes Britain's Sunday Times.

Is Elizabeth II finally turning her back on Buckingham Palace in London?

But what does it mean for the British monarchy if the Queen's actual weekend and holiday home is now her permanent residence?

There will probably be some changes by then, even if the move doesn't have to involve a radical upheaval.

For example, the Queen will continue to hold her regular audiences with the Prime Minister by telephone, it is said.

However, Buckingham Palace will probably not lose its importance, because it is said to remain the center of the British monarchy.

From there, however, speculation about the Queen's new residence has not yet been publicly commented on.

In the summer, the Queen will celebrate her platinum anniversary on the throne and can also look forward to congratulations from her fans.
