Setting a shining example against the war in the Ukraine and for peace: This is what an action in front of the Kultur im Oberbräu in Holzkirchen calls for on this Sunday evening.

Holzkirchen

– Set an example for solidarity with the people in Ukraine and against the war that the Russian President is waging: The Kultur im Oberbräu team invites you to do this on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

At 7:30 p.m., lights for peace will be lit on the forecourt of the Holzkirchner Kulturhaus.

All those who are affected by the war in Ukraine and who value peaceful coexistence are welcome with their own candles.

The event technicians from "Laut und Hell" from Weyarn ensure that the building is appropriately illuminated for the event, says Alexander Harlander from Kultur im Oberbräu.

The date on Sunday was not chosen entirely by chance: the first cultural event will take place that evening after a four-month Corona break, and cabaret artist Holger Paetz will be performing from 6 p.m.

"But we didn't want to open the house and go back to business as usual," explains Harlander.

The images of the attack on Ukraine are too close, the shock about the Russian war of aggression in Europe and Vladimir Putin's threatening gestures are too deep.

"Everybody was in shock at first," says Harlander.

"Now the point has come where people have to go outside with their worries."

Speeches are not part of the "Lights for Peace" campaign.

But meeting people who feel the same way offers the opportunity for exchange.

"A lot of people find that it's hard to deal with," says Harlander.

"In exchange with each other, you can try to put the uncertainty and bewilderment into words." And set an example for peace.
