The issue of caregivers has received much attention, and most of them are female caregivers.

Before Women's Day on March 8, an organization released a survey on women's physical and mental health. The results showed that most women's mental and physical health were below the standard level, and full-time caregivers were the hardest hit areas.

Many women are so busy taking care of their families that they spend little time on themselves, and even neglect their own health.

The Hong Kong YWCA reminded the public to care more about the women around them, and called on women to "love themselves".

The Women's Physical and Physical Health Survey was conducted by the Hong Kong YWCA from December last year to January this year. 1,066 women were interviewed by questionnaire to understand their physical and mental health.

The questionnaire also incorporates the "SF-12 Questionnaire" which assesses physical and mental health.

The survey showed that the average physical and psychological assessments of the interviewed women were lower than the qualified standard (50 points), with 44 and 36 points respectively. The relevant data was also lower than the survey conducted by the Department of Health in 2017, when the survey was close to the qualified level.

Nearly 80% of respondents have less than two hours of me-time per week

The survey also found that respondents rarely enjoy personal time, with nearly 80% (77%) spending less than two hours alone or enjoying themselves every week, about 70% (68%) needing to take care of their family and about 40% (39%) Caring for 8 hours or more per day.

People who took care of their families for a long time had worse physical and mental health. For example, women who needed to take care of their family members for 8 hours or more a day had the lowest physical and mental health score, which was 2 points lower than the overall average score.

The survey also found that respondents rarely enjoy private time, with nearly 80% (77%) spending less than 2 hours alone or having fun every week, about 70% (68%) needing to take care of family members, and about 40% (39%) needing to take care of their families every day Care for 8 hours or more.

And those who take care of them for too long have worse physical and mental health.

Women also suffer from different diseases due to long-term care work. 30% of the respondents (32%) have pain symptoms such as back pain and foot pain, followed by obesity (24%), and more than one adult has menstruation Dysregulation (13%) and high cholesterol (12%).

Most women admit that they are far less concerned about their own health than their family members.

Organization: Caregivers focus only on family health and neglect themselves

Wu Wanling, Director of Women's Youth Services (Employment Services and Women's Youth Movement), said that she is worried about the physical and mental health of women. She also pointed out that the recent epidemic has become more serious, and full-time caregivers who have been interviewed have been diagnosed with the disease because of their parents who were infected.

Dual-career women also face balancing work and family without adequate rest.

Hu Wanling reminded them to pay attention to their own health, develop a balanced diet and work and rest habits.

Hu Wanling mentioned that nearly half of the respondents came from low-income families, and even if they were sick and wanted to seek medical treatment, they would be deterred by expensive medical expenses.

Therefore, for grass-roots women, disease prevention is more important than treatment. She suggested that women can regularly go to the nearest regional health station or center to receive high blood pressure or diabetes screening to prevent chronic diseases.

The Young Women also set up a district health station in the North District last year to connect different professional teams, including doctors, optometrists, Chinese medicine practitioners, nutritionists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, etc., to provide primary medical care for residents and employed people in the district and health support services.

The Young Women's Christian Association of Hong Kong stated that on March 8, Women's Day, it will hold the "ChariTea Jujube Love Charity Project" for the 13th consecutive year.

Due to the epidemic situation, the organization held an online tea distribution event for the first time. Citizens can arrange for tea bags to be delivered to their homes as long as they fill in simple personal information at https://gift.ywca.org.hk within March.

Caregivers' Elegy | "Take care of the old to make you older" is generally a 70-year-old uncle: I don't know when I can't take care of my sister, a woman, a caregiver, and a paint volunteer to solve problems for others. Concerned organization: I hope to create me-time for them. Those with low self-image have lower family happiness than the territory-wide average
