With the aim of promoting the Qamar al-Din industry, the Directorate of Agriculture in the Damascus Countryside Governorate distributed more than 30 thousand seedlings of apricot seed to farmers in Eastern and Western Ghouta, at an exceptional price of 500 Syrian pounds per plant.
Director of Agriculture in Damascus Countryside, Irfan Ziadeh, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the plants that were distributed were produced by the ministry’s nurseries, and a mechanism was set up to organize the distribution process in coordination with the agricultural associations in the area with the aim of delivering them to farmers with the desired specifications. A number of steps were taken to restore the prosperity of Qamar al-Din industry in The region by securing its basic components and reducing production costs by providing the requirements of this agriculture.
Ziada confirmed that the expansion of apricot tree cultivation will positively affect the increase in the number of workshops, which currently stands at only 3, and the factories for the Qamar El-Din industry in the region.
It is noteworthy that the Directorate of Agriculture is implementing a campaign of afforestation of fruitful plantations to compensate for the ones cut and burned by the terrorists.
