AUCTION - Next August, RM Sotheby's is selling 27 exceptional machines from the collection of the American Davis in Pebble Beach.

Question of period.

One after the other, the greatest collections of automobiles built up during the Glorious Thirty ended up on the market after the death of their owner.

This is the case of that of the American Oscar Davis.

A Hungarian immigrant who arrived in the United States at the age of 3 in 1929, Mr. Davis devoted his entire life to a passion for automobiles.

Having made a fortune in pool accessories and equipment with Hayward Industries, which he bought in 1964, Oscar Davis had built up one of the finest collections of exceptional cars.

One of those that arouses respect and admiration as the models he has collected represent the pinnacle of the automobile.

His cars, mostly pre- and post-war GTs and racing cars,

With his death last year at the age of 95, twenty-seven models are on sale.

RM Sotheby's was commissioned to disperse the collection.

Most of the vehicles will be sold at the home sale event on August 19 in Carmel, as part of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Six models from the collection will be sold over the counter as part of the house's private sales.

The list is not exhaustive but the Oscar Davis collection includes only exceptional Italian, German, English and French machines.

RM Sotheby's appraised it for 100 million dollars, or just over 100 million euros at the current price.

This is how we find one of the Talbot Lago T150-C SS berlinettas bodied by Figoni & Falaschi in 1937, but also a Bugatti 57 S Aravis.

The sale will also be an almost unique opportunity to acquire one of the BMW 328 Bugelfalte roadsters which took part in the Mille Miglia race in 1940. This model is estimated at 10 million dollars.

His collection of Maranello models includes a 166 MM, a 375 MM Spider, the special Pininfarina cabriolet (1737 GT) made at the request of lawyer Paul Villard on a short 250 GT chassis and bodywork inspired by the 400 Superamerica, the 250 GT Passo chassis 1757 GT and a 250 GT Spider California.
