Videos distributed on the Internet yesterday and today (Monday) show documentation of severe violence by police against demonstrators in Jerusalem.

Among other things, the police are seen in videos pushing demonstrators vigorously, dragging them, throwing them to the floor and beating them with batons - for no apparent reason.

The events took place in two demonstrations that took place throughout the evening: a demonstration by ultra-Orthodox people at the entrance to the city, and a demonstration by right-wing activists that took place later in the evening near the government compound.

In the first demonstration, hundreds of ultra-Orthodox protested and blocked the light rail, in protest of the arrest of Rabbi Simcha Bonam Teitelbaum, who defected from military service, and the military tribunal is expected to rule today in his case.

Finally, seven protesters were arrested.

After months of avoiding it, police also used "skunk" to disperse the protesters at the entrance to the city, and a heavy stench spread throughout the area.

Videos from the scene document some cases of severe violence against the protesters.

Avraham Menkes, one of the prominent protesters of the Jerusalem faction, who was present at the protest in Jerusalem yesterday, saw the violence with his own eyes.

"There is no public that the police treat like that," he says.

"The public is standing on the road, policemen are coming and giving murderous blows with cavalry and hallucinations and trying to vent their anger on the protesters.

This is brutal and cruel behavior that is probably true on the part of the police only towards the ultra-Orthodox.

This is not a theory, make a comparison between the other demonstrations in the country and those of the ultra-Orthodox.

There is no doubt that it remains for us, out of distrust in the police, to go to civil lawsuits against the police officers who work in a criminal organization that does not hold anyone accountable and usually gets a windfall from the media as

well . "

Members of the Jerusalem faction are expected to file a complaint with DIP following the videos. At this stage, a DIP investigation has not yet been opened on the matter.

Dov Morel, a resident of Jerusalem who came to cover the protest of right-wing activists, was also attacked at the end of the demonstration while standing on a nearby sidewalk.

After documenting the activities of the police officers at the scene he asked for the name of one of them.

"The demonstration largely disintegrated and then some boys and girls remained, the Olive Squadron left the place, the demonstrators were not on the road, and suddenly I see some YSM policemen starting to chase boys with batons. I ran after them and filmed a demonstrator attack," he says. "The policeman who attacked his name, and in response he started beating me. At the end he brought me his details. Later in the day I go to DIP, not that I think anything will happen with it."
