The fuel prices in the district are now reaching dizzying heights.

Prices of 2 euros and more for a liter of Super or diesel were not uncommon on Sundays.

How do drivers react?

voices and moods.

Daniel Börner (42) from Unterhaching:

“We have been driving very consciously for a long time, i.e. purposefully.

My wife mainly uses the car. For example, I always cycle to work, which takes about 20 minutes.

This of course saves money and it is good for physical fitness.

As far as current fuel prices are concerned, we know the problem: Putin.

But I'm happy to pay a little more, as long as the war is over soon."

Christine Lichtenstein (60), employee at the Aral petrol station in Sauerlach:

"I've been working here for a good eight years, but I've never experienced such a price increase at the pumps.

Sure, you can tell the customers are dissatisfied, but they are usually quite relaxed towards me.

What I have noticed, however, is that people are filling up less now, which means that the tank is not always being filled up.”

Erika Küttner (43) from Munich:

“I drive from Munich to Otterfing at least three times a week, and then I often fill up in Sauerlach, like before.

The high fuel prices are of course noticeable, but so far I haven't seen any savings elsewhere.

I will probably bear the additional costs first.

After all: I don't have to drive to work at the moment because I'm still working from home.

Andrea Wecke (47) from Sauerlach:

"I'm now thinking twice about driving my car and I use the S-Bahn more often to get to the office.

Spontaneous short trips by car will probably not take place so spontaneously in the future.

Saving is announced.

In my opinion, scolding doesn't help much, it doesn't change anything.

And I fear that completely different challenges will come our way in the near future.”

Monika Bock (41) from Altkirchen:

"With our chicken farm, we are not far from work and therefore drive very little.

Our e-bike will be used again in summer.

We are concerned that feed prices will probably rise steeply, the war in Ukraine, the breadbasket of the EU, will make itself felt.

We only use our tractor when it's really necessary - a full tank easily costs 200 euros.

We deliver to an organic shop in Oberhaching once a week and try to use this trip for further deliveries and errands.

Calculation is everything at the moment.”

Alexandra Teuffel (46) from Sauerlach:

"At the moment I can't do without my car: I sometimes have to shop for my family of five, I have to drive to work and be flexible.

Of course I could also use the S-Bahn more, but that's too uncertain for me, there are always cancellations.

Basically, I always fill up at the cheapest gas stations in the area.

If the prices continue to rise like this, I will probably have to save elsewhere: Fewer new clothes, less eating out – things like that.”
