Foreign Minister Yair Lapid issued a clarification this evening (Monday), following his meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Latvia, regarding Israel's contacts with Russia regarding the war in Ukraine.

Blinken expressed to Lapid his appreciation for "the contacts you are making in an attempt to stop Russian aggression in Ukraine."
He stressed that "it is important for the war to end, Russia is the one that started the war unjustifiably and it is the one that needs to end the war."
In his first public U.S. response to the Bennett-Putin meeting, he said that "we appreciate the efforts that all our allies are making to see if the war can be ended,
