The celebration of the launch of the annual poetry award for the year 2022, which was held by the Al-Assad National Library in cooperation with the Creators for a Homeland Foundation, took the character of the poetry festival through the participation of a group of poets belonging to different generations and experiences.

At the beginning of the celebration, Dr. Bahjat Akroush, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, spoke about the purpose of launching a poetry contest to revitalize the cultural scene, devote a culture of belonging and reveal literary talents.

After showing a documentary film on the Foundation's activities, a member of the Board of Trustees, Samir Al-Matrod, mentioned the conditions for participating in the competition and the date of announcing its results next September.

As for the poets participating in the celebration, their beginning was with the poet and critic Helena Atallah, who recited a sentimental poem of the weight of the activation in which she called for love, peace and the release of the beauty inherent in the human soul, in addition to other texts.

The poet, Engineer Jamal Al-Masry, also recited an activating poem he sang for Damascus, whose pride did not hurt by war, nor did it distort its beauty, but rather it will remain immortal and eternal.

On the other hand, the participation of the poet Qassem Farhat came from vertical poetry through a sentimental poem with a passionate love of life despite the spiritual alienation, with beautiful images and metaphors.

The poet Ghadeer Ismail read a long poem in which he sings of the rising nation to embrace the light and of the undying person whose ability to withstand, with beautiful, solid vocabulary and modern images.

The young poet, Jude Al-Dimashqi, participated in a vertical poem that expressed his love for the homeland with a remarkable youthful enthusiasm.

The ceremony included musical pieces led by Maestro Kamal Skiker, who accompanied the poets by playing the oud solo, and two young people performed two songs from the Arab lyrical heritage.
