Opinion | Women have no excuse for mediocrity Israel today

2022-03-07T16:56:56.853Z

Breaking through the glass ceiling is a goal that every woman can put in front of her eyes and work to achieve. • If you have abilities, you do not need favors or "affirmative action"

International Women's Day here and Otto hears the constant discourse on inequality between women and men on the issue of wages, on the gaps in the ability to advance in career advancement paths, and of course on positions women have never held such as president, chief of staff, commissioner and more.

Alongside this will be the regular chant about "female empowerment," which will be accompanied, most likely, by advertisements for beauty products, apparel and mini chocolates.

To me, the expectation that someone (a man?) Will take the chestnuts out of the fire for women and open an opening for them to express themselves professionally or personally is the exact opposite of the essence of Women's Day, and in my opinion also of the essence of femininity itself.

There are so many successful and successful women, in Israel and around the world, who have already proven to us that anything is possible.

We can create and change reality.

We have had a Prime Minister, we have had a Supreme Court presidency, an IPS commissioner, chairmen and CEOs of public companies on the stock exchange, a service and CEOs of government ministries, we have excellent facts and excellent managers, and there are more and more examples of women who have made history here. And fulfilled themselves.

So why do we actually need International Women's Day?

Today, formerly known as International Labor Day, seems to have long since lost its role as a symbol of women's struggle for their political and professional rights.

Some would say that the reason for this is that it has become a day that expresses men's love for women, a kind of Valentine's Day.

But the truth is that women, especially in Western countries, including Israel, have completely paved the way for them to hold key positions in Israeli society and the public, and thus have also broken ground in everything related to their terms of employment.

Breaking through the glass ceiling is a goal that every person can put in front of his eyes, aim for the destination he wants to reach, and act with all his might to achieve it.

So is a woman: your gender can not be an excuse for mediocrity.

This is an outdated concept, which is not really in the reality of 2022. If you have dreams, desires, aspirations - go out and make them come true!

You have all the abilities, tools and values to be successful.

You can alone, and do not need favors or "affirmative action" to fulfill yourself.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
