The ski areas in Austria are open despite the high number of corona cases.
At the weekend there were even further easing in neighboring Germany.
Due to the spread of the omicron variant, the 7-day incidence in Austria has risen to 2,413.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants (as of March 7,
AGES
).
The German neighbor had even introduced compulsory vaccination.

2G on the slopes: What currently applies to skiing in Austria
According to the Austrian tourism portal
austria.info , the
3G rule has been in force in cable cars
since February 19
.
In addition, an
FFP2 mask
must be worn in closed rooms - including gondolas - as well as outdoors and on the chairlift if a distance of two meters from people outside the household cannot be maintained.
This means: Only those who have been vaccinated, have recovered and have been tested have access to the cable cars.
Night gastronomy as well as
après-ski
is possible again since March 5th.
At the same time, the 3G rule for overnight stays in accommodation establishments has fallen, the FFP2 mask is only recommended, but is no longer mandatory - except in public transport and shops for daily needs.
The curfew for gastronomy is also history.
Important to note: Vienna does not go along with many of the easing, for example the 2G rules in gastronomy remain in place.

Which corona rules apply when skiing with children?
No 3G proof is required
for
children under the age of 12 .
For children aged 12 to 15 who are traveling with their parents from abroad and who are not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated or have recovered, there is the "Holiday Ninja Pass".
The children receive this if they can present
at least two negative PCR tests and one negative rapid antigen test
per week .
Masks are compulsory for children from the age of six, but a fabric mask is sufficient for children under the age of 14.
Entry rules for Austria
Relaxed entry rules for Austria
have been in effect since February 22 :
3G proof
is now required
sufficient for border crossings - except for trips from virus variant areas.
The vaccination certificate must not be older than 270 days for a basic immunization.
The validity can be extended by a further 270 days with a booster.
Proof of recovery must not be older than 180 days.
On the other hand, those who come with a test can do so either with a negative PCR test (maximum 72 hours old) or a negative rapid antigen test (maximum 24 hours old).
If none of the three forms of proof are available, those affected must register for pre-travel clearance before entering the country.
They are also subject to a 10-day quarantine, which is considered to be over as soon as a negative test result is available.
The "Holiday Ninja Pass" for school-age children replaces proof in the sense of the entry regulation and can also be equated with a 2G+ proof.
Children under the age of 12 are exempt from the obligation to provide proof.

These rules apply to a day trip to Austria
The same rules apply to a day trip to Austria
as to a longer stay
: entry is permitted with a 3G pass.
Since the federal government recently removed all countries from the risk list, Austria is no longer a high-risk area.
Therefore, travelers returning only need proof in the sense of the 3G rule.
