Have you ever heard of avios?
Functioning as an international virtual currency, avios are accumulated by travelers for each flight made with partner airlines.
They can then be used to buy flights, get upgrades or extra baggage.
To take advantage of it, simply sign up for the loyalty program of the participating airlines: British Airways and its Executive Club, Iberia and its Iberia Plus, Vueling and its Vueling Club, and, from the end of March 2022, Qatar Airways and its Privilege Club. .
The number of avios accumulated during a flight differs according to the company.
With Iberia, for example, each mile flown will give between 0.25 and 2.5 avios, depending on whether the ticket was booked in economy or business class.
With Vueling, the rate is 2 avios for every euro spent, or 4 avios per euro for Vueling Visa cardholders.

Avios or Skymiles?
Members of the Qatar Airways loyalty program can also earn avios on flights operated by members of the oneworld network, i.e. fourteen international companies such as Finnair, Qantas, Japan Airlines or Royal Jordanian.
Avios can also be collected after staying at over 100,000 hotels worldwide, or by renting a car.
A total of 200 brands are partners in the tourism or leisure sector such as American Express, Nectar, Avis Budget Group and Marriott.
In addition to avios, other loyalty systems bring together several airlines.
This is the case of the Skyteam program, which allows you to accumulate “skymiles” with 19 different companies, such as Air France, Delta Airlines, or KLM.
However, beware of small lines, Air France indicates on its site that skymiles cannot be combined with flying blue miles, the loyalty program of the French company.
As to whether we will ever be able to exchange avios with skymiles... Are you really wondering?
