Last year, Jordanian authorities arrested a number of Jordanian officials.
The Arab media then reported on an attempted coup, but the Jordanian chief of staff denied that the prince was arrested and claimed that he was only "asked to stop actions that harm security and stability as part of investigations conducted by the security forces."

Nevertheless, the former Jordanian regent signed a letter in which he expressed his loyalty to the King of Jordan, Abdullah bin Hussein, and to the regent, Hussein bin Abdullah.
It is estimated that his arrest came amid criticism he leveled at the government.

"Goddess to His Majesty, my eldest brother, and our Hashemite family keeper - this is the hope to start a new page in the history of Jordan and the family."
"I have made a mistake, Your Excellency my eldest brother. I bear my national responsibility for the positions and injustices on my part against His Majesty and our country over the past few years, and what follows on the issue of civil war. I hope you forgive me The behaviors will not be repeated, "the letter concluded.
