Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for joint support to the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine aimed at ending the crisis and reaching an agreement that would bring peace and security between the two countries.

"We should jointly support the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine and help the two sides maintain the direction of negotiations, overcome difficulties and continue dialogue to achieve peaceful results," Xi was quoted as saying by Xinhua during a video summit with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

He called on Jinping to adhere to the basic principles of the United Nations Charter, take seriously the security concerns of all countries, and support all efforts to promote peace and resolve the crisis.

On the dialogue and cooperation between China and the European Union, the Chinese president said, "The two sides should strengthen dialogue, adhere to cooperation, and promote the sustainable progress of relations between the two sides."

Yesterday, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, called on the United States, NATO and the European Union to pay attention to Russia's security concerns and engage in dialogue with it.
