Under the slogan (a covenant we renew with knowledge, steadfastness and victory), the members of the fortieth annual conference of the Damascus University branch of the National Union of Syrian Students discussed developing the scientific, educational and service reality for students and improving the educational process in the university’s colleges and institutes.
The students’ interventions during the conference, which was held today at the university’s auditorium, focused on improving student services in colleges and institutes and providing more logistical facilities for graduate students in terms of providing infrastructure to conduct research, facilitating the scientific publishing process, and identifying the problems and obstacles facing the educational and research process in university colleges and institutes. Technical.
He called on the students to speed up the issuance of the results of the examination courses, reduce the period of obtaining university documents, find solutions for university housing in the university city of Basil al-Assad, reactivate production camps and scientific trips, activate their participation in scientific and cultural activities at the university, activate electronic libraries, review national exams as a condition for graduation, in addition to activating the role of Student bodies in colleges and institutes.
President of the National Union of Syrian Students, Dareen Suleiman, stressed the importance of the role of university students in developing student work, upgrading the educational reality, and working to correct mistakes in a manner consistent with the pioneering role played by the union with the aim of improving the educational and service process at the university, noting the need for the college administration to facilitate logistics services for students, especially those with students. Special needs as well as conducting continuous follow-up and monitoring of services provided to students on campus.
Suleiman stressed the need for the new student leaders to be up to the responsibility and tasks entrusted to them to deliver the student's voice and defend his rights, stressing the importance of choosing the most efficient and best to lead student work in the next stage and conduct student elections in all transparency.
Secretary of the Damascus University branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Dr. Khaled Al-Halbouni, pointed out the importance of the conference to identify the students' problems and concerns as they are the promising future of their country, Syria.
The President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, in his response to the students’ inquiries, indicated that the university is about to finish soon the development of the automation program so that the university will be automated within three years with all aspects of administrative and scientific work in faculties, institutes and branches, which will contribute to alleviating congestion on registration and payment niches and that this The project is currently on the university's priority list.
The university president urged the students to switch to the book and digital reference in light of the difficulty of obtaining foreign scientific references, expressing the university's readiness to help in this field.
At the end of the conference, new members of the Damascus University branch of the National Union of Syrian Students were elected.
The conference was attended by members of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, Vice Presidents of the University and Deans of Faculties at the University.
