Recently, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Social Equality decided to cancel the participation of Tamer Nafar and Hisham Suleiman in a lecture to high school students.

It was recently reported that the Minister of Education, Dr. Yifat Shasha Bitton, and the Minister of Social Equality, Meirav Cohen, have decided, separately, to cancel the participation of two top artists in Arab society in events for society: rapper Tamer Nafar, in an advocacy campaign to prevent violence against women , And actor Hisham Suleiman, in a lecture to high school students.

Strangely, unprofessionally and dangerously, the decision to cancel the two's participation came against the background of their political views, and on the grounds that they were inciting violence.

To the best of my knowledge, anyone who incites violence - especially on racial grounds - should be treated by law enforcement and judged for his words or actions.

In the two cases before us it is a decision of the political echelon, which comes to please a particular public without dealing with the opinions of the artists.

With Nafar one can agree or disagree with his views, accept or object to the style in which he expresses himself, however it is difficult to argue with the fact that he is one of the most influential artists in Arab society, especially the younger generation.

The professional echelon in the Ministry of Welfare and the media and advertising people rightly saw him as an influential figure, and he responded positively to participating in a campaign whose sole purpose is to raise awareness of the harm to Arab women.

After the campaign had already aired, the intervention of the Minister in charge arrived, who ordered that his information video be removed and that his participation in the campaign be prevented.

It is very worrying that the political echelon is influenced by elements with an agenda whose goal is to persecute anyone who is different from them or thinks otherwise.

They are not exactly coming to seek justice, but to prevent any person, especially an Arab citizen, who dares to express a different opinion or a different opinion, to participate in a public campaign.

Here it is worth reminding anyone who has forgotten that Arab citizens also pay taxes.

Suleiman is one of the most prominent actors in Arab society, the star of the series "Fauda".

The Minister of Education banned his lecture to high school students due to criticism he made against IDF soldiers, but it is precisely with those who criticize the state and its institutions that dialogue must take place, because otherwise each group or population will speak only with itself, which will add to distance and fortification. A smart and courageous political leader or leader is supposed to have any discourse that is respectful and respectful, and the same is true when it comes to Nafar and Suleiman.

During the Corona period, as part of the outreach efforts, an influential Arab women actor appeared alongside Minister Meirav Cohen, an influencer from the sector.

Although the criticism in Arab society of his participation was extremely negative, since he presented the women as "typical" women, who are still in the ancient era, the campaign was not canceled.

And why?

Because the criticism came from Arab society and not from Jewish society.

By the way, it is doubtful whether Nafar and Suleiman lost from the decision of the two services.

In my opinion, they earned and became heroes in the eyes of Arab society.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
