From the small screen to the great escape, there is only one step.
Like travel documentaries, some entertainment programs inspire viewers in their choice of destination.
The 23rd season of
Koh Lanta
, broadcast every Tuesday evening since February 22 on TF1, seems to have decided some of them to plan a trip to the Philippines – a country which reopened its borders to vaccinated tourists on February 10.
Indeed, searches for accommodations in this destination increased by 20% during the broadcast week (February 22-26, 2022) on Hotels.com compared to the previous week.
The island of Koh Rong in Cambodia, the archipelagos of Yasawa and Kadavu in Fiji, the island of Taha'a in French Polynesia... Since its creation in 2001, the adventure game has highlighted paradise islands in around the world on which the adventurers, brought together in teams who compete in trials, are left to their own devices.
The name of the show is inspired by that of an island off the coast of Andaman in southern Thailand.

For this 23rd edition, adventurers are stranded in the Calamian archipelago – a destination already chosen for season 7, in 2007. Located north of the large island of Palawan, 300 km from the capital Manila, it is made up of four main islands: Busuanga, Coron, Culion and Sangat.
A paradise for lovers of diving and water sports which owes all its beauty to its karstic limestone formations, its tropical forests and its thousand-coloured lagoons.
The main point of interest on Coron Island, undoubtedly the wildest in the archipelago, Lake Kayangan, owned by the indigenous Tagbanwa tribe, is considered the cleanest and clearest in the country.
It's no surprise that a TV show, movie or series inspires travel.
In recent years, the
Game of Thrones
series has boosted tourism to filming locations, including in Iceland, Croatia and Ireland.
More recently, season 2 of the
Emily in Paris
series , released last December on Netflix, is said to have fueled travelers' interest in the Côte d'Azur, in particular Villefranche-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes), Saint- Jean-Cap-Ferrat (Alpes-Maritimes) and Saint-Tropez (Var), where the second episode was filmed.
This season "
has had an immediate impact on the holiday plans of the French, with more than 40% of searches for Saint-Tropez compared to 2020
", still according to Hotels.com.
