The joint campaign "Marzling Grillt" far exceeded all expectations: 26,000 euros and 26 cubic meters of donations in kind were collected.
Marzling
– "Can't we do something macha?" Asked Willi Thalhammer from SV Marzling on Monday a week ago during a phone call with local councilor Thomas Sellmeir.
They spontaneously wanted to help the Ukrainian population – especially the children.
It should be a barbecue event, Thalhammer and Sellmeir finally agreed.
Now helpers were needed - and soon they were found.
The Marzlingen clubs were contacted that same evening: "And they took part," reports Thomas Sellmeir.
The preparation
What began with this short phone call brought the Marzlingen clubs together that same night – and thanks to the support of the Geisenhofer bakery and the butcher shop of the same name, it was already clear the next morning: “We’re going to pull this off.” The campaign was a done deal.
In addition to the epicurean supply, helicopter sightseeing flights were also integrated into the offer.
The implementation
On Sunday, "there was tense expectation among all those involved," reports Thomas Sellmeir.
"'Are we going to get rid of the goods?' That's a question many people asked themselves." But the concerns of those involved quickly proved to be unfounded, because: "Right from the start at 11 a.m. there was a state of emergency in Marzling," reports Sellmeir.
"Many came not only from the community, but also from near and far and not only brought donations in kind, but also donated cash diligently." The unanimous verdict of all those involved: "It's crazy."

Many helpers
And then a lot of work was done: So on Sunday from morning to evening all Marzlingen clubs worked "hand in hand" and helped each other to hand out the grilled sausage and meat loaf rolls, mulled wine, cake and drinks to the donors in front of the community (the see "Facts" for exact figures), while a few hundred meters away there were donation-based helicopter tours.
These too were "sold out" down to the last seat.
In addition, other butchers jumped in to provide supplies again: because the rush of buyers continued.
By the way: There were no prizes, the self-chosen donations of the individual flowed into specially set up donation boxes.
Sellmeir emphasized that even the very youngest donated part of their pocket money or sold bracelets and other handicrafts to support children in Ukraine.
The result
Clearing up after the campaign was easy, Sellmeir reports: "Except for the empties, everything was gone in the end." He is proud of the result - and of the unity of the Marzlinger clubs: "That was a great day." External praise for the organizers from BRK district manager Albert Söhl: "Actions organized in this way are particularly valuable."
The money will now be transferred to the account of "Ein Herz für Kinder" earmarked for Ukrainian children.
The donations in kind are stored at the aid organization Navis in Moosburg (see also page 4).
