The incidence in Bavaria has risen again.

The Robert Koch Institute on Wednesday (March 9) reported a reading of 1619.3, its second straight rise.

Markus Söder has repeatedly emphasized that vaccinations are the way out of the pandemic.

However, the vaccination engine has repeatedly stalled.

Hopes were recently pinned on the protein vaccine Novavax, a so-called "dead vaccine".

Holetschek reports: "Novavax is approved for all adults with immediate effect"

All adults in Bavaria can now be vaccinated with this.

So far, this has only been possible for employees in the healthcare and nursing sectors, for whom facility-related vaccination will apply from mid-March - but so far there has been very little interest.

"Novavax has been approved for all adults with immediate effect," said Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) on Wednesday.

Appointments could be made immediately in the vaccination centers, and the vaccine should also arrive in doctor's offices shortly.

Novavax vaccinations in Bavaria: Low demand in the intended group of people

Vaccination with Novavax started in Bavaria last week.

But so far only about 2,300 people in Bavaria have decided to be vaccinated with Novavax.

"Unfortunately, the demand from the group of people planned so far is only low - and prioritization is therefore no longer necessary," explained Holetschek, adding: "I appeal to everyone who is still hesitating: give yourself a push, get vaccinated."

Protein vaccine Novavax: Bavaria wants to advertise it on social networks

Novavax's Nuvaxovid is a protein vaccine - a different technology than the mRNA preparations from Pfizer and Moderna that have mostly been used up to now, and which some people have concerns about.

The hopes were therefore high that many people, especially medical and nursing staff who had not been vaccinated before, would now decide to have a corona vaccination.

"I hope that we can convince many more people who were skeptical about the previous vaccines with the more classic vaccine," said Holetschek.

That is why the Bavarian Ministry of Health, for example, will increasingly advertise vaccinations with Novavax on social networks.
