There is currently a good chance that holidaymakers will only have to pay attention to a few corona rules in 2022.
Some long-haul travel destinations have lifted almost all measures.
The corona pandemic is not over yet, but relaxed corona measures are giving those who love to travel a positive feeling about their holiday plans.
In the past two years, these have been overshadowed by strict rules - both on entry and on return.
But there are also a few long-distance travel destinations* that make a holiday uncomplicated again.
Dominican Republic – almost all corona rules lifted
Anyone entering the Dominican Republic from Germany does not currently need
a vaccination certificate or a negative test
.
However, if you are entering via a
high-risk or virus variant
area, additional proof may be required.
In general, however, all travelers must fill out a uniform electronic health form.
Random health checks
in the form of temperature measurements
can be carried out at the airports , as the Federal Foreign Office informs.
If there is a suspicion of a corona infection, those affected must go into quarantine and leave their contact details.
The Ministry of Health has set up isolation stations for this purpose.
In the Dominican Republic,
almost all corona measures were lifted on February 16
: Hotels, restaurants and bars are open nationwide and public events are also taking place.
Proof of vaccination or similar is no longer required for access to public buildings, and there is no longer a requirement to wear a mask in public areas.
To
return to Germany
, travelers only need to present 3G proof.
A digital entry application does not have to be filled out and there is no quarantine obligation, since the Dominican Republic is not considered a high-risk area.

Vacation in El Salvador – what currently applies to the corona pandemic
Holidaymakers
do not need proof of vaccination or a negative corona test
to travel to El Salvador .
It's important to note, however, that there are no direct flights to El Salvador -- so airlines may ask for proof when checking in on the connecting flight, the Foreign Office notes.
In the country itself there are no restrictions in the tourism sector due to the corona pandemic.
There are also no rules on public transport.
El Salvador is also not on the list of high-risk areas.
Holiday returnees only have to present proof of vaccination, convalescence or negative test when entering Germany.

Easier entry into Mexico - but stricter rules in the country
Holidaymakers do not need a medical certificate or negative test results
to enter Mexico by air
.
There is also no quarantine requirement.
However, travelers must fill out a questionnaire (cuestionario de pasajero).
It is also to be expected that more fever measurements will take place upon entry.
In the country itself, holidaymakers have to make sure that
different corona measures can apply from state to state depending on the infection
process
– the Federal Foreign Office points out.
Regions such as the Yucatan Peninsula, Baja California Sur or Nayarit have opened to international tourism under strict hygiene requirements to ensure safety.
Outside these areas, less stringent measures may apply.
In general, however, there are still distance rules and a mask requirement in Mexico - here, too, you should pay attention to the regulations of the respective state.
When returning to Germany, travelers must present proof of 3G.
Further measures are currently not to be observed.
