Today, the Chinese Foreign Ministry warned of the consequences of imposing sanctions targeting Russian energy exports and stressed that all parties would lose from this step.
And the media quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian as saying at a press briefing that imposing sanctions on oil and gas exports from Russia would lead to economic problems affecting all parties.
China firmly opposes unilateral sanctions that are not based on international law, Zhao said, noting that waving sanctions will not bring peace and security and will only lead to serious problems for the economy and quality of life in the countries concerned and increase differences.
Yesterday, US President Joe Biden announced a ban on his country's imports of Russian oil and gas, while Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed earlier that the ban on Russian oil would lead to dire consequences on the global market and that it might make prices jump to $300 a barrel or more.
On the other hand, the Chinese spokesman stressed that the moves of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" led by the United States pushed the tension between Russia and Ukraine to the "explosion point", calling for taking China's concerns seriously and avoiding undermining its rights or interests in dealing with the Ukraine issue and relations with Russia.
Russia continues its special military operation in Ukraine for the fourteenth consecutive day, amid progress on various axes.
