This Tuesday the former player and Mexican soccer coach Tomás Boy passed away.

The Tigres club confirmed the coach's death on Twitter.

Liga MX was one of the first organizations to react and expressed its condolences in a tweet.

THE #LigaBBVAMX mourns the sensitive death of Tomás Boy.

Former player, national team, technical director and soccer legend in Mexico.

Boy was the captain of the Mexican National Team in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, as well as a champion and legend as a player with the Tigres.

In his soccer career, Boy stood out as a scorer for the Tigres, where he lived his best stage.

He was the club's top scorer until 2019, when he was surpassed by Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac.

Gignac was, precisely, one of those who joined the displays of affection and condolences for the departure of the coach.

On his social networks he wrote: “Today we lost a great boss, a Mexican soccer legend, forever in the history of our Tigres club.

With all respect and admiration!”

As a player in the Monterrey team, Tomás Boy won two League titles and a Cup trophy.

He also had a long career as a coach directing several Mexican teams in the first division.

The last of them was Mazatlan last year.

He also went through the benches of Chivas, Cruz Azul and Querétaro.
