The first reports date back to 2017, but the file will have suffered four referrals to justice before succeeding.
On Monday March 7, the public prosecutor of Versailles requested two years in prison for abandoning animals against a breeder from Auffargis (Yvelines).
A sentence that could be accompanied by a ban on keeping animals and exploiting them professionally, and the payment of 262 fines for around 30,000 euros.
The case dates back to 2017 when the prefecture of Yvelines received a telephone report "
evoking mistreatment of animals kept on the farm
" from the Four Star Farm, as indicated in a report.
Other reports are made, noting the presence of corpses and sick animals at the breeder of dairy cows, pigs and poultry.
But it will be necessary to wait until October 2018 for a control of the exploitation to be carried out.
Several hundred fines are then drawn up, the officials finding the animals actually malnourished, many of them sick and without care.
Between the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP) embarked around a hundred cattle, which it entrusted to the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, which itself ended up filing a complaint on April 30, 2019.
The breeder mentions bovine tuberculosis
Questioned by the court, the breeder of the Four Star Farm admitted administrative shortcomings, but denied any mistreatment.
Me Karine Martin Staudohar, lawyer for a civil party, describes to Le
Figaro
a hearing during which the accused breeder remained "
in his contradictions
".
“
He denies the evidence.
He certified that the breed of his cows implied their thinness, then he affirmed that some had contracted tuberculosis, which is false because the analyzes carried out by the Brigitte Bardot Foundation showed the opposite
”.
