An advertising spot has now brought the managing director of a Munich company that rents out sports cars to court.

A video on YouTube shows him racing on Spitzingstrasse.

Spitzingsee

- The road to Spitzingsee is not suitable for racing with its curves, the walls on the left and the slope on the right.

The public prosecutor's office now accused a 26-year-old from Munich, managing director of a company that rents out sports cars, among other things, of having misused the route in October 2020 for illegal car races.

Illegal race at Spitzingsee?

He is said to have traveled at up to 152 km/h in a Porsche Turbo.

It was filming for his company, the recordings could be seen on the video portal YouTube.

“We want to use this to win customers for our company,” explained the accused.

The video is about "many individual sequences, some of which were filmed in the same curve".

In the moments when he can be seen, he drives the car, the man added.

When more than 150 km/h were measured, he was not at the wheel.

"It could have been anyone from the camera team," said the accused.

"The video is eight minutes and five seconds long," judge Walter Leitner interjected.

"I always see you behind the wheel.

I don't like your admission, it's incomprehensible.

You can see the speedometer filmed at 152 km/h while you are behind the wheel.

The 26-year-old responded that he "didn't drive the car with the wrong number plates on."

As a rule, the wrong number plates would only be used when the vehicle is stationary.

"In that case, you can unfortunately still see these license plates in the exterior shots while the vehicle is in motion," admitted the Munich resident, but repeatedly emphasized that there was "no dangerous situation" with another road user when driving to Spitzing have.

A situation that could have resulted in a head-on collision was not visible in the video played in the courtroom.

Leitner nevertheless recognized oncoming traffic when driving the 650 hp car with the 26-year-old at the wheel on the state road to Spitzingsee and the B 307 in the direction of Aurach.

You can also see a speed test.

The Munich driver accelerates the car from zero to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds.

On the road to Spitzingsee: the police speak of illegal car racing

The suspicion of an illegal motor vehicle race also came up with the police, said an official (42) from the Miesbach inspection.

The complaint was received via an online contact form.

The number plates that can be seen in the video were actually not registered for this vehicle, he reported.

The police would have identified the driver of the car on the recordings via the YouTube channel.

"That was the accused," said the police officer.

He too was able to see "racing-like driving behavior and a speedometer with 150 km/h" on the recordings.

"You can also see that oncoming traffic is running, but there are no indications that other road users are endangered," added the 42-year-old.

From his point of view, the racing character was crystallized "also through the driving behavior", said the official.

And the route is anything but clear.

"I know the street," said the prosecutor in her plea.

“There are some difficult curves there.” In addition to the high speeds, the accused would also have disregarded the right-hand drive a number of times, as can be seen on the video.

"I'm convinced that you always drove yourself," said the lawyer.

Judge: Driving behavior of Munich "grossly contrary to traffic and reckless"

It was also not about bringing potential customers closer to the driving comfort of the Porsche, as the accused claimed, "but about maximum acceleration".

She demanded a fine of 50 daily rates of 65 euros and a four-month driving ban.

Defender Karl-Heinz Regener insisted that exceeding the speed does not automatically mean a race.

"He was only at 150 km/h for one second," he said.

He called the route to Spitzing "manageable" and called for the additional driving ban to be reduced to less than four months.

Judge Walter Leitner gave the 26-year-old exactly these four months of driving ban, as well as 50 daily rates of 55 euros each.

The Munich driver hasn't had his driver's license since December 2021 anyway.

Leitner called the driving behavior of the young man from Munich "grossly contrary to traffic and reckless".

He also recognized that it wasn't about driving comfort: "In your video you talk about what a 'king' and what a 'monster' the Porsche is."
