Kuwaiti writer Fakhri Hashem Al-Sayed Rajab said in an article in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas yesterday that we always learn lessons from far and near history, so certain knowledges take root, new values are confirmed, and sometimes strange concepts arise.
In his article, Mr. Rajab added, forcibly, I recall what happened during the Saddam invasion of my country, Kuwait, the positions of the friendly neighboring countries that supported Kuwait and supported it in its ordeal, starting with Saudi Arabia, passing through the Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, all the way to the resistance countries and Egypt, and I stand at Syria.
The writer asked here, saying: If we go back to the year 1990 and I was at that time by chance visiting this brotherly country when the disaster happened and the invasion happened. Yes, it is an invasion and not an expected war. It is treachery that brought with it devastation, destruction and wounds for the Kuwaitis and all their infrastructure, even housing.. A whole year and the Arab Republic did not hesitate The Syrian government refused to provide all services to us as Kuwaitis.. free treatment, schools and education for a period of seven whole months, and all of that was mixed with friendship and love and not to prejudice our feelings.. This is on a personal level. As for politically and on the ground, Syria did not delay for a moment in supporting Kuwait under the leadership of the late Hafez al-Assad, who proved his words In fact, beside the Arab right, the Syrian army was in the forefront, and I don't think the Kuwaitis have forgotten that.
The writer said: We all know the story, even if some would like to be with the other class, but now, after eleven years, you see, is it not time for us to return the favor... Would any of us Kuwaitis accept to enter as an occupier of his land, God forbid, and stand silent or welcome?
He added, "It's really a strange equation, how do we want the Syrians to bless the division of their lands between Turks, Kurds, militants, and wow... while their hands are folded."
The writer continued: Their wealth is stolen and their oil plundered while they suffer calamities together. Is this not enough after more than a decade to assure the world that the Syrian people are moving forward and that what has been clarified years ago by the opposition, most of which harvested millions of dollars to enjoy abroad in exchange for destroying the country.
He continued, "I firmly believe that the time has come to dust off and restore relations with a sister country that was never on our side and on the side of Arab nationalism that the West seeks to destroy with all it has and break this idea... the West, which has never hesitated to declare its ambitions in our country either as guardianship or economic occupation.
The writer concluded his article by saying: Love builds and love is faith and the laws of the homeland and belonging is an honor for every sincere and every year and your hearts are full of certainty and faith and our love for each other and for our land.
