The MLB and MLBPA reached an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement and the start of the Major League season in the United States is imminent.

The agreement will be sealed this Thursday with the ratification of the team owners and the announcement of the start of the campaign.

Major League Baseball (MLB) and the MLB Players Association (MLBPA) have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA), two sources with knowledge of the situation told CNN.

The deal ends a lockout that began in December and lasted 99 days.

According to the source, the deal is subject to ratification and they hope to do so quickly: MLB team owners will hold a vote via teleconference at 6 pm ET on Thursday.

The source told CNN that spring training will begin on Sunday with Opening Day scheduled for April 7.
