A number of foreign tourist groups of different nationalities flocked to the historic city of Palmyra today and yesterday, with the aim of inspecting the archaeological sites and documenting the destruction inflicted on the antiquities as a result of the attacks of the terrorist organization “ISIS” on its cultural heritage before it was defeated from the city at the hands of the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army.
The tourist Adrian from Romania, a computer engineer, said in a statement to SANA reporter: My dream of visiting the city of Palmyra and seeing its ancient monuments came true, and I had a beautiful and wonderful impression after witnessing the city’s civilized heritage, considering what the enemies of human culture did in those rare monuments is a disgrace on the forehead of all humanity.
The tourist Benjamin from Australia pointed out that the visitor to this city, located in the heart of the Badia, feels completely safe and comfortable, and this contributes greatly to the revitalization of the tourism movement to it, wishing the return of excavation and archaeological restoration missions to continue revealing the secrets and treasures of this city, to which travelers are drawn from all parts of the world.
And the tourist Christian, who works as a tourist bus driver in Germany, expressed his great pain after seeing archaeological monuments that had become rubble after being destroyed by the enemies of culture and history.
He said: If there is something we can learn from Syria and its ancient civilization and culture, it is peace, pointing out that the West is trying to distort civilizations and their human symbols.
For her part, the tourist Larissa from the Russian Federation called for the necessity of learning about the history and civilization of Palmyra and getting acquainted with its ancient architectural arts, its cultural and civilizational richness and its charming nature, describing this ancient city as an open museum, stressing that Palmyra remains a tourist destination for many lovers of art, culture and travel.
