KIEV - In the Ukraine war shocking new news: There has apparently been a bomb attack on a children's clinic in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, there are dead and injured.

The global horror is great, Rissland's actions are described as barbaric, inhuman and cowardly.

In the midst of this new horror news, a bad fear seems to come true.

Russia is apparently also using a particularly cruel weapon in the Ukraine war that is leveling everything in the area: the TOS-1A armored multiple rocket launcher, which is able to fire 24 rockets at the same time.

The rockets can be upgraded with a thermobaric warhead, making them a terrible weapon: they can cause severe internal injuries through pressure and heat waves, and the air of bystanders is "literally sucked out of their lungs," says the

report

.

A 2000 CIA study said: "Those in the vicinity of the blast will be wiped out.

Those on the edge of the blast are likely to suffer many internal (...) injuries.”

Since the start of the Ukraine war, there have been fears that Russia will use the TOS-1 flamethrower in Ukraine.

The missile launchers have been seen several times near the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had already warned on ... that the Russian troops had used the multiple rocket launcher, often referred to as a weapon from hell, and the ... had also denied this.

However, the allegations have never been officially confirmed.

But now the Russian Ministry of Defense seems to have admitted the use of the armored multiple rocket launcher itself.

The British Ministry of Defense tweeted on Tuesday, March 9: The Russian Ministry has confirmed the use of TOS-1A flamethrowers.

The Ukrainian news portal Segodnya.ua also reports on this, referring to a report by the Russian television channel Zvevda, which belongs to the Russian Defense Ministry.

Russia has admitted to having used the TOS-1 "Solnzepjok" (translated: "heat of the sun") multiple rocket launcher system in the Ukraine war.

The Russian TV channel Zvezda, owned by the Russian Defense Ministry, reported this.

Thermobaric bomb (vacuum bomb or aerosol bomb)

A thermobaric bomb or in German called aerosol bomb refers to a special weapon that, when triggered, distributes a substance without an oxidizing agent in the air as an aerosol and then mixes it with the oxygen in the environment and ignites it.

The two phases of the explosion create a vacuum, from which the colloquial name vacuum bomb is derived.

The distribution of the aerosols makes the vacuum bomb more effective when bombarding fortified structures.

In addition to the large-scale effect, the detonation of an aerosol bomb generates more heat than conventional bombs.

The use of aerosol bombs is prohibited under the 1980 Geneva Protocol III on Incendiary Weapons in the vicinity of civilian structures or civilians.

Britain says the Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed the use in Ukraine of the TOS-1A weapon system, which uses thermobaric rockets.

"The Russian MoD has confirmed the use of the TOS-1A weapon system in Ukraine," it

said on Twitter

.

"The TOS-1A uses thermobaric rockets, creating incendiary and blast effects."

Thermobaric weapons, sometimes called "vacuum bombs," basically suck in oxygen from the surrounding air to generate a more high-temperature explosion than conventional bombs.

Though not illegal, their usage is controversial because they are much more devastating than conventional explosives of a similar size, and have a devastating impact on anyone caught in their blast radius.

The United States has used them in Vietnam and more recently in Afghanistan to destroy mountain caves where militants were hiding.

Russia used them in its war in Chechnya in 1999 and was condemned by Human Rights Watch for doing so.

Russian-made thermobaric weapons were also reportedly used in the Syrian civil war by the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

Russia has admitted to using the TOS-1 “Solntepek” multiple rocket launcher system, which can be armed with thermobaric ammunition, in the war against Ukraine.

The Russian TV channel Zvezda, owned by the Russian Defense Ministry, reported this.

On March 9, the TV channel published information that on March 4, crew gunner Sergey Gubarev used the TOS-1A “Solntepek” system in a battle with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Chernihiv region.

In its reply, the British Ministry of Defense emphasized that the TOS-1A system could use thermobaric warheads (also called "vacuum bombs" by the Russians).

The use of the TOS-1A system by the Russian occupiers against the Ukrainian civilian population is contrary to international law of war.

Thermobaric warheads are prohibited

They explode in two stages.

First, the warhead ejects a flammable mixture in the form of an aerosol, then the second part explodes, detonating the aerosol sprayed around it.

Due to this effect, thermobaric ammunition has a significantly higher lethality and explosive power.

According to international warfare conventions, such thermobaric munitions cannot be used against military targets or enemy personnel if they could injure civilians.

In addition, the use of thermobaric munitions against military personnel is prohibited unless the benefit obtained does not justify the use.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed the use of TOS-1A flamethrowers in the aggressive war against Ukraine.

Also known as vacuum bombs, aerosol bombs, or compressed air bombs, these projectiles ignite a firestorm that draws massive amounts of oxygen from the air, creating a vacuum.

This is reported by the British Ministry of Defense via Twitter.
