Not for the first time, Lithuania and Latvia are using a subtle method to get one over on Russia.
The embassy staff now have to live with a change.
Riga/Vilnius - "From now on, the business card of all employees of the Russian embassy will bear a tribute to Ukraine's struggle," says Remigijus Simasius, mayor of Lithuania's capital Vilnius, according to the British
Guardian
.
After the escalation of the Ukraine conflict, his city changed the address of the Russian embassy and renamed the street.
It is now called: "Street of Ukrainian Heroes".
"Anyone who writes the embassy's address will have to remember the violent acts committed by the Russian regime against the peaceful Ukrainian nation," Simasius continued.

Until now, the address of the Russian embassy was "Latvia Street", the mayor continued.
But a small, previously unnamed side street is now the new address for the embassy.
The street signs were put up on Wednesday, also in Ukrainian.
Ukraine war: Lithuania and Latvia not for the first time with the same tactics against Russia
According to the
Guardian
, this is not the first time Lithuania and neighboring Latvia have used the same tactics to get their stance on Russia and Vladimir Putin in the wake of the Ukraine war.
In 2018, Vilnius named the square in front of the Russian Embassy after Boris Nemtsov.
Nemtsov was a prominent figure in the Russian opposition, much like Kremlin critic Alexey Navalny, and was shot dead outside the Kremlin in 2018.
Latvia's capital Riga is now following the example of the neighboring country.
The address of the Ukrainian embassy is now: "Independent Ukraine Street" - which, given the background to the Ukraine conflict, is likely to annoy the Russian rulers.
