The number of infections is increasing.

A (first) vaccination would be extremely important right now, says CTT boss Frank Contu.

The soldiers withdraw from the Freisinger Contact Tracing Team.

But the gap will soon be closed again.

And that is also badly needed.

- The Corona measures should soon be more or less history.

But the omicron wave is making an ominous comeback.

There are far more than 20 Covid patients in the clinic, the incidence is rapidly moving away from the 1000 mark - and the health department is hit with hundreds of reports of new infections every day like a hailstorm - on Thursday 667!

Right in the middle, Frank Contu manages the daily madness: He is the administrative manager at the Freising Health Department and thus head of the Contact Tracing Team (CTT), which follows the trail of the virus - or at least tries to.

So far, the Bundeswehr has provided support here.

But given the military situation, the soldiers are just leaving.

What's next for the Corona follow-up?

We talked about this with Contu,

Mr. Contu, more than 2000 new infections are currently being reported every week.

How big is the CTT tracking these cases?

That's about 50 people, including the Bundeswehr soldiers.

That's 17 now, soon only eight - and then the Bundeswehr will be gone.

The so-called administrative assistance service quota is running out.

The background, of course, is the tense military situation.

What's next?

We'll compensate for that.

We're just hiring some new people.

And we use the state government's personnel pool.

These are employees from various areas such as the tax office, surveying office or even the government itself who help with the CTT teams.

This pool of personnel was limited, but has now been increased again against the background of the withdrawal of the German Armed Forces.

But our police also assign people to the CTT: Every inspection – Freising, Neufahrn, Moosburg and the airport – is involved.

We are in constant contact with the police headquarters in Oberbayern-Nord.

How can one imagine the follow-up?

We have long since lost the ability to call every PCR positive – the “index person”.

That was already difficult with an incidence of 100, with more than 1000 you no longer have a chance.

Therefore, all infected people receive an e-mail that also contains a symptom diary.

Those affected must fill this out and send it back.

It is also planned to send everyone a letter with precise instructions on how to behave.

The new infections in the Freising district are still high.

Those affected often do not know what to do if the test is positive.

Incidence decreases slightly to 2079.7

The number of infections among children and adolescents is particularly high.

Incidence decreases slightly to 2079.7

And the contacts?

They will be informed by the index people.

Hopefully.

.

.

Yes, we have to trust that.

It is different in cases of vulnerable groups, i.e. those affected in retirement homes, for example.

We will immediately inform the respective employees by telephone so that they can immediately take measures to prevent further spread.

Who is currently infected?

This goes across the vegetable garden.

In any case, there is no cluster.

Also no accumulation in schools or after larger parties.

The new infections are widespread and remain at a high level.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

How is the progress?

That cannot be answered in general.

What is certain, however, is that the course is milder in those who have been boosted than in those who have not been vaccinated.

So right now vaccination would make a lot of sense.

The number of infections is going up again.

Will it go on forever - with a summer wave at the end?

Hopefully not.

I'm rather optimistic about that.

Last year there was also a slight increase at this time - a relapse, so to speak - and then the number of infections fell sharply and permanently.

I wish the same for all of us this year.

But for a prediction I would need a crystal ball.

What else can you do besides vaccination?

We are now in the phase of self-responsibility.

Now the common sense of each individual is required.

Even if many restrictions are removed, I don't have to use everything that is possible.

Do I really have to go to a party with 100 guests?
