With a perfidious WhatsApp scam, scammers in Bavaria got a total of 4,600 euros.

The police warn of such dubious messages and call for vigilance.

Holzkirchen –

The Holzkirchen police are warning of a new scam via WhatsApp, unfortunately due to the current situation.

Unknown people usually pretend to be family members via WhatsApp, such as the sons of their victims.

To explain that the message came from another number, they pretend to have lost their cell phone and then ask their victims to transfer money to them as soon as possible under an excuse.

WhatsApp: New scam surfaced – police warn

Two such cases of WhatsApp fraud have been reported to the Holzkirchen police in the past few days.

In both cases, the victims wired money to their alleged sons.

According to the banks concerned, the money was immediately withdrawn by the crooks.

Beware of WhatsApp: New scam leads to high losses

It is essential to first clarify in person or via the known telephone numbers whether the sender is really a family member.

You should never feel tempted to rush money into an unknown account.
