The place of Putin in the Golden Book remains, but covered.

Otherwise, Aying does a lot to make his contribution to the Ukraine crisis.

Aying

– No municipal council meeting should go by without at least touching on the topic of Ukraine.

It wasn't much different in Aying.

Where the community has a point of contact.

We have already reported on the Russian President's entry in the Golden Book.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed it on October 11, 2006.

Mayor approached from several sides to remove site

Mayor Peter Wagner (CSU) was apparently approached from several sides as to why this page is not being removed.

"It's a piece of contemporary history," the mayor defended his decision to leave the entry in place at the most recent meeting.

He clearly distanced himself from Putin.

"It's not the same Putin today as it was then." Putin is unlikely to experience any more hospitality, let alone the honor of signing the Golden Book.

Yes, he also informed the panel that the corresponding page in the Golden Book does not automatically show Putin's signature.

Because Wagner covered them up.

A picture painted by Ukrainian refugee children can now be seen there.

It shows a white dove with a Ukrainian flag in its beak,

Many provide housing

Mayor Wagner remembered the conversations he had with his grandfather, who lived through the Second World War.

"He always warned us about war," Wagner said.

"I could never have imagined a war in the middle of Europe." It is shameful how Russia is acting here with Ukraine.

With all the grief and desperation, something else also resonates: the willingness to help in the community of Aying is huge.

"Shortly after our call to get in touch with anyone who could provide housing, I received more than 20 responses so that refugees could be accommodated." This means that around 50 people have already been accommodated.

Interpreters have also offered their services to help with language problems.

According to Wagner, a call for donations was started together with Rosi Fritzsche from the Dorfleben und Soziales association.

The work of the Pathfinder Association “PLAST” in the Ukraine is specifically promoted here.

The association has been working with this organization for years and is already known to the people of Ayingen for the annual Christmas parcel campaign for children in Chernobyl.

Donations go to: PLAST Ukrainian Boy Scout Association in Germany, Bank details: Deutsche Bank Munich, IBAN: DE30 7007 0024 0222 0473 00, BIC (SWIFT): DEUTDEDBMUC Important: Purpose: "Humanitarian Aid Ukraine".

City council donates meeting fees

On the initiative of Deputy Mayor Karin Lechner (FWGA), the municipal council donated its attendance fee for this purpose.

A Ukrainian citizen attended the meeting and asked for support for his action, which he and others are organizing privately.

He was looking for storage facilities for everything that was collected in order to drive it to the Ukraine himself in a Sprinter.

"That can be organized," said Johann Lechner (CSU) and promised to provide space in Peiß unbureaucratically and immediately.

"The willingness to help is outstanding," attested Mayor Wagner and asked everyone present to commemorate those who died to get up from their seats.
