In the early hours of today (12th), at No. 79, Pokfulam Road, West District, Hong Kong Island, near the road opposite Kai Cheng Xuan, it was reported that a saltwater pipe in the ground suddenly burst, and a strong water column burst out of the road, spraying nearly 10 meters and about 3 storeys high. "Road Fountain".
A large amount of salt water flowed down the inclined road, which affected the traffic on the back-and-forth line, and all passing vehicles were "baptized".
It is understood that the burst water pipe occurred at about 2 am in the morning. The police received a report at 3:07 am and notified the Water Supplies Department to send personnel to the scene to turn off the water switch and make emergency repairs.
However, until about 5 o'clock in the morning, the scene was still flooded with water, and the police repeatedly received reports from a large number of residents and building security guards.
Not long after, staff from the Water Supplies Department arrived at the scene, but it was suspected that the water switch could not be turned off immediately due to subsidence and road conditions.
Until 6 am, the "road fountain" still did not stop.
