(CNN Spanish) -

When we thought that the waters were calming down in the dispute between Residente and J Balvin, Rubén Blades makes an appearance.

The legendary Panamanian musician, actor and activist put the music industry on notice this Wednesday.

Through a video that was broadcast on his social networks, Blades said that on Thursday, at 7 pm Miami time, he would give a short message about this confrontation.

"Well, friends, tomorrow, God willing, my comment will go on the conflict between René (Resident) and J Balvin. And I'm going to do it because my name is going around. So, anyway, they entered me there, I took them there, I am going to make a short comment, in the appropriate language".

And as promised, at 7 o'clock he uploaded his song.

It was a rap, which she titled "Don't pay attention to those things", with music by "Le Becerrap".

In the short video, just 54 seconds long, Blades says:

"My name has appeared on social networks and newspapers,

and today that conflict of others forces me to make a comment.

Make no mistake, I want this to be clear,

José or René because I love them as brothers.

When sometimes my reason is angry screw it up

I tell myself Rubencito, eagle doesn't catch flies,

it's not love and affection, it's love and control,

letting the child scream sometimes is better

There is an old truth that only the good learn,

gold never buys someone whose soul It

doesn't sell.

To the heated mood, I recommend putting an end to  it,

calm down listening to the album of the year, "Salswing!"

"Salswing!" in Puerto Rico on May 14, don't miss it,

don't pay attention to those things, don't pay attention to those things."

The album that Blades refers to and promotes is "Salswing!", which won the Latin Grammy for album of the year in 2021, one of the most important categories of the night, and which is also nominated for a Grammy award in the category of best traditional tropical latin album

Why was Rubén Blades left in the middle of this fight?

The conflict between Residente and J Balvin originally arose in September 2021, after Balvin proposed —again— a boycott against the Latin Grammys.

According to the reggaeton player, the Latin Recording Academy did not value artists of the urban genre.

"They don't value us, but they need us. We give them a rating but they don't give us respect," Balvin said in a tweet that he later deleted.

Shortly after this message, Residente reacted through his Instagram with a video in which he criticized Balvin's request to his colleagues not to attend the Latin Grammy ceremony, where they would pay tribute to Rubén's life and career. Blades.

"To make matters worse, this year they dedicate it to Rubén Blades. In other words, you are telling the people of the urban genre to boycott the awards and not to celebrate the artistic life of Rubén Blades, cab***. A guy who marked the history of Latin American music, a guy who, unlike you, writes his songs and feels them," Residente said in the video, which was also removed from his Instagram account.

Residente was also in charge of presenting the Person of the Year award to Blades during the televised Latin Grammy ceremony.

In the speech, in which he was trembling and nervous, the Puerto Rican said: "You raised me with your music, you educated me with your lyrics, you opened the doors of your house to lend me a room when I still did not have a home. You advised me on the most complicated moments of my career, in those moments in which the whole world hides, there you were. You gave me the most that I needed a guide, a direction. You are my mentor, my teacher, my friend. You are like a father for me. Thank you, Rubén".

Blades also appears in the lyrics of "BZRP Music Session Vol. 49", Residente's song in collaboration with Argentine producer Bizarrap, in which he once and for all got even with Balvin.

"What Rubén said, the Resident supports it.

Although it changes color, I always know where it comes from

," says the dump.

The bar refers to the 1991 song "Cameleon" by Blades, part of the "Caminando" album.
