Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described Kyiv's statements about the "threat posed by the Chernobyl nuclear plant after it was taken over by Russian forces" as misleading.
"Kyiv's statements about the Chernobyl plant do not correspond to reality and are misleading information," Zakharova was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying.
It is noteworthy that the Russian army took control of the “Chernobyl” plant in the first days of its military operation in Ukraine to prevent the arrival of Nazi guerrillas to it in the framework of Ukrainian disarmament and to prevent any attempts by Kiev to obtain uranium from the mentioned station to make a nuclear weapon.
More than 2,000 employees still work at the plant, which is secured by Russian forces because it requires constant management to prevent a nuclear catastrophe.
