SV Sandhausen has secured another important point in the relegation battle and surprised them with a draw at SV Darmstadt 98.
The Baden second division soccer team drew 1-1 (0-1) with the promotion candidates on Friday evening.
Ahmed Kutucu equalized late for the guests from Sandhausen (84th minute) and thus missed Darmstadt a damper.
Darmstadt - The goal for the lilies was scored by Aaron Seydel (17th) in front of the 11,296 admitted spectators at the Böllenfalltor.
Although the Hessians have returned to the top of the table for the time being, they can still fall back to third place by Sunday.
Sandhausen is 15th.
After a tough start, Seydel set the first exclamation point for the south Hesse team with a shot from the left side of the penalty area at the crossbar on the left (13').
A short time later, the striker provided the opening goal.
But Sandhausen did not give up.
Joker Kutucu, who had just come on as a substitute, completed safely after a cross from the right.
Alois Schwartz's team now has 30 points.
