The municipality of Sauerlach wants to spend more than 1.4 million euros for the water supply in Sauerlach and Arget, the old town hall will be renovated with around one million and the air filter devices for the primary school will cost 214,000 euros.

Sauerlach

– According to reports, 76 interested people had now logged in at the online citizens’ meeting.

Assuming that some people didn't follow the event alone, between 100 and 150 Sauerlacher probably sat in front of the screen.

Town hall chief Barbara Bogner (UBW) quickly reviewed the past twelve months, looking at the camera a little helplessly (due to technology) but resolutely, not without emphasizing the closeness of the town hall administration to the citizens: “Every citizen is welcome!” But making an appointment would be good , currently even mandatory (Thursday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment, according to the municipality’s website), which also avoids too much rush in the corridors of the authority.

Sauerlach shrinks

Hard facts and numbers: Sauerlach is shrinking, it has been said that the number of inhabitants has fallen by 35 people since 2020, which is why only 8758 citizens (as of February 1, 2022) are registered here.

At the end of this year, Sauerlach will probably have debts of 18.5 million euros and 105 active cyclists took part in the last city cycle, pedaling over 22,000 kilometers in three weeks.

This is good for your health and yes: for the climate.

Far ahead when it comes to climate protection

Especially since Sauerlach is far ahead when it comes to climate protection: Here you can fill up with electricity (e-mobility), garbage is separated, which also makes sense with glass as a raw material, says Bogner.

In addition, 2024 wind turbines are to be erected in the Hofoldinger Forest.

On the other hand, there has already been a climate protection officer, Robert Maier, since November 1st.

Other new community employees are Luisa-Marie Sattler in the citizens' office, Sylvia Denk-Eibl and Irene Niedermaier in the community library and Stefan Heckel at the recycling center.

And should a tree, especially an old one, have to be felled, the municipality compensates with new plantings.

In any case, Barbara Bogner is happy when it comes to environmental management on site: "Climate protection remains exciting."

Fiber optic expansion not sure yet

Of course, not everything is running smoothly: For example, not enough Sauerlachers want to do business with German fiber optics to use faster Internet (see article in the sidebar).

Bogner explains that 33 percent of households would have to sign for the project to be worthwhile.

Currently, just 17 percent want to be connected.

After all, there have been more deals in recent weeks, and the trend is rising.

Ottobrunn – Bitter: The municipality has to reckon with 2.8 million euros in renovation costs for the underground car park in the town centre.

Geothermal energy is the main reason for the high debt burden in Oberhaching

The municipality of Oberhaching has been investing most of its money in geothermal energy for years.

In times of energy supply shortages, the investment could soon pay off.

Further access to the high school

Speaking of connections: For the planned grammar school not far from the S-Bahn station, another access road is to be developed, and a third roundabout may even be planned in front of the area on Sonnenstraße.

It is also still unclear whether there will soon be a roundabout or traffic lights in the Lochhofen district.

The town meeting was actually supposed to be recorded and made available on the community website these days, which unfortunately didn't work for technical reasons.

But it has to be close to the citizens: "We will publish a brochure," says community manager Norbert Hohenleitner, "in which the topics will be distributed to all households again as a print version."
