Retired Supreme Court Justice and former State Comptroller Eliezer Goldberg died yesterday (Friday) at the age of 90.
Judge Goldberg was born on May 24, 1931 in Jerusalem.
In 1949 he graduated from the "Hebrew Gymnasium Rehavia" in the city, and in the years 1955-1952 he studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He specialized in the office of the President of the Jerusalem District Court, Zvi Ali Becker.
In 1957 he was certified as a lawyer.

From 1965 to 1964, Goldberg served as a traffic judge in Jerusalem, and later served as a judge of the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court until 1974. In the same way, he was appointed a judge of the Jerusalem District Court.
In 1982, he was appointed vice president of the Jerusalem District Court, and a year later served as an acting judge of the Supreme Court, a position to which he was appointed regularly a year later.
In 1988, he served as chairman of the Central Election Commission for the 12th Knesset and served as a member of the committee, and later as chairman of the Criminal Procedure Committee.
In 1994, he served as a member of the Shamgar Committee to Investigate the Massacre in the Cave of the Patriarchs.
In 1997, he chaired the committee examining the ways in which judicial discretion is constructed.
In June 1998 he retired, and from that year until 2005 he served as State Comptroller and Commissioner for Public Complaints against Judges.
