Russia's Rosatom Nuclear Energy Corporation has announced that the Zaprozhskaya and Chernobyl nuclear power plants are operated by Ukrainian experts with the assistance of Russian experts.
"With advisory assistance from our side, the necessary electricity is now being restored to protect the dormant Chernobyl reactor and to maintain the physical protection system of the Zabruzhskaya plant," TASS quoted the foundation as saying in a statement.
The statement added: The priority needs of the two plants are identified to ensure the safe and sustainable operation of their reactors, noting that cooperation is taking place between Russian and Ukrainian specialists and holding regular meetings between them.
The statement indicated that measures to ensure the safe operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants are being implemented in the context of extensive contacts with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
