Moscow-Sana

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced that the proposals made by Russia to the United States and NATO with the aim of establishing a system of mutual security guarantees to maintain security on the European continent no longer exist due to changes in the current situation.

Russia Today website quoted Ryabkov as saying in an interview with Russia’s Channel One today: “I cannot say that these proposals are still valid because the balance has changed radically and the situation is currently completely different. These goals have been repeatedly stated and are well known.”

Ryabkov pointed out that the future of Europe's security structure and the arms control system depends on the extent to which the West, led by Washington, is willing to cooperate with Moscow in this regard.

Ryabkov explained that Russia has taken "very concrete steps in order to preserve Europe's security structure and prevent it from collapsing as a result of the absolutely irresponsible criminal approach of the current regime in Kyiv and its Western sponsors led by the United States."

Ryabkov expressed his country's readiness to resume dialogue with the United States on strategic stability, in addition to cooperation within the framework of the START 3 Treaty on the reduction of nuclear weapons, indicating that "everything depends on Washington."

Ryabkov blamed Washington for "poisoning the atmosphere on international platforms," noting at the same time that contacts between Russia and the United States are still continuing despite the current tensions.

On the lists of people who will be subject to Russian sanctions, Ryabkov said, "The lists are ready. We are doing this, and this is a big part of the daily work. It is possible that focusing on how to respond to the sanctions and their scope is wrong."

On the other hand, Ryabkov warned that Moscow might take military measures in order to prevent foreign countries from exporting weapons to the Kyiv authorities, noting that arms convoys arriving in Ukraine from abroad “may become a military target for the Russian army.”

The United States and its NATO allies have extensively supplied Ukraine with shipments of lethal weapons and military equipment, while the American Washington Post revealed earlier that the weapons and equipment that the United States sent to the Kyiv authorities since the beginning of last December are commensurate with street war and fighting in residential neighborhoods .
