The Japanese Nikkei newspaper revealed that the Japanese Mitsui and Mitsubishi companies will continue their participation in the Sakhalin 2 project to pump Russian gas to Japan and South Korea.
The newspaper quoted a Japanese source as saying that “Japan’s position regarding its interests in Sakhalin is very different from that of Europe and the United States,” noting that according to the documents obtained, the withdrawal of Japanese companies from the Sakhalin 2 project will benefit Russia and China.
After the Western countries and the United States announced the imposition of economic sanctions, Russia took a set of economic measures to confront these sanctions and limit their effects on the Russian economy.
