308 people from Königsdorf are campaigning for cycling: They are demanding an expansion of the road network on the B11 to Bad Heilbrunn

Königsdorf – The government of Upper Bavaria and the state building authority in Weilheim have had the signatures of 308 people in Königsdorf for a few days.

The undersigned call for the construction of a footpath and cycle path along the B11 between the district of Reindlschmiede, which belongs to Bad Heilbrunn, and Schönrain in Königsdorf.

At the most recent municipal council meeting, Marlies Woisetschläger from the Independent Citizens' List (UBL) presented the list to Mayor Rainer Kopnicky.

For bicycles: More than 300 people in Königsdorf are calling for the expansion of paths

A year and a half ago, the Weilheim authority informed the affected communities of Bad Heilbrunn and Königsdorf about the planned straightening of the B11 between Reindlschmiede and Schönrain.

And even then, the Königsdorf municipal council complained that there were no plans for a pedestrian or cycle path to accompany the road in the expansion area.

With the list now handed over to the head of the town hall, Kopnicky, the UBL wants to get the application checked.

"Both Königsdorf and Bad Heilbrunn were available in autumn 2020 for the planning approval process," explains Marlies Woisetschläger.

"At that time, the municipality of Königsdorf indicated an urgent need for action on a pedestrian and cycle path alongside the road," said the UBL councilor.

Cycle path in Königsdorf - along the B11 it does not go forward

The municipal council decided to re-examine the need for a pedestrian and cycle path along the B11.

"But not much happened after that," Woisetschläger recalls.

The idea of sensitizing the state building authority with a list of signatures came up at one of the meetings last autumn.

"But apparently only the UBL faction took the matter seriously."

Woisetschläger's efforts to get support from the Bad Heilbrunn municipality, which was also affected, would not have been fruitful either.

She contacted the manager there, but got no further.

Woisetschläger promises that the list will be handed over "that we will at least be heard".

The UBL would have liked to have carried out a larger campaign, but had to cook the collection of signatures on a low flame due to the Corona rules.

B11 expansion planned - one reason are many accidents

A date for the expansion of the B11 has not yet been set.

The area between the Reindlschmiede and Schönrain is one of the oldest sections of the route that is still in its original state.

The state building authority justifies the new planning with frequent traffic accidents.

Concern about B11 relocation - "Geretsried falls down behind"

The B11 transfer should now only take place after the S7 extension.

Mayor Michael Müller does not want to accept that.

He demands speed.

Concern about B11 relocation - "Geretsried falls down behind"

Many critical voices had already mixed up in the municipal council's discussion about the expansion during the objection period.

Finally, the section impresses with its cultural and visual value.

In addition, according to the opinion of the councils at the time, many accidents happened as a result of improper driving.

At that time, there was talk above all of excessive speed in the tight corners.

Some committee members also feared that the straightening would result in an increase in heavy goods traffic.
