What is at stake in the elections of March 13 in Colombia?

The legislative elections in Colombia mark the first major electoral event in the country in 2022. On Sunday, March 13, a total of 38,819,901 Colombians are eligible to vote for the candidates who will occupy the new Congress.

Of that total, 37,911,335 can pay in the national territory and the rest abroad, according to the National Registry of Civil Status, the institution in charge of organizing election day.

What are the voting hours?

The polls open on Sunday at 8 am and will close at 4 pm in Colombian territory.

Can I still register my card to vote this Sunday?

For these legislative elections, the term to register the citizenship card expired on January 13, 2022.

However, you are on time for the presidential and vice-presidential elections (May 29), since there is a deadline to register the ID until March 29 of this year.

When will the results be?

From 4 p.m. on Sunday until 12:00 a.m. on Monday, the district, municipal and auxiliary counts will take place, according to the Registrar's Office, which also indicates that the count will continue from Monday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Colombian.

The general scrutiny, indicates the Registry, will be from 9 am to 9 pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
