Munich

– On Saturday, March 12, there was a major police operation at Englschalking station on a Munich S-Bahn line S8 heading towards the airport.

The trigger was a 52-year-old passenger who threatened other travelers with a knife on the train.

In the afternoon at around 4.15 p.m., the Federal Police was informed by the Operations Center of the Munich Police Headquarters* that there had just been a threat with a weapon in an S8 towards Munich Airport.

Immediately, several patrols made their way to the scene.

On site, the officials came across a 52-year-old man with Croatian citizenship who is registered in the Ludwigsburg district (Baden-Württemberg).

According to initial investigations, he is said to have approached a fellow traveler from Munich (20) during the journey and insulted him.

Threat in the S-Bahn from Munich to the airport: Attackers are free for the time being

The 20-year-old was able to free himself, whereupon the attacker pulled out a knife and threatened him.

A witness (52), who observed the incident, then made an emergency call and pressed the emergency brake on the train.

The 20-year-old then left the train at Englschalking station.

The 52-year-old then turned to an 18-year-old Kosovar who was also sitting on the S-Bahn and insulted him when the first police forces arrived on site.

The Croatian was arrested and handed over to the federal police shortly afterwards.

The one-handed knife with which he had threatened the younger man was confiscated and the aggressor was released after all police measures at Munich Ostbahnhof had been completed.

He is now being investigated for insult, threat and violation of the weapons law.
