A number of students and graduates of the Farid Al-Atrash Institute in As-Suwayda competed to present their skills and faculties through a musical concert, concluding the singing and playing competitions that were announced five months ago.

The institute had announced a special competition for its students in the field of playing and singing on the 6th of last November, which was held under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture.

The ceremony included honoring the students of the institute who won the competition, who played solo. Several students from the institute also presented a group of songs, accompanied by the institute’s orchestra, led by Maestro Muin Nafaa, in addition to honoring the winners.

The director of the Farid al-Atrash Institute, the artist, Mueen Nafaa, explained to SANA that the competition is the first of its kind that the institute holds for its students and graduates in the fields of playing and singing. This concert.

The list of participating students, according to Nafaa Amir Abu Fakhr on the qanun instrument, Farah Al-Hussein on the violin, Ward Nader on the oud, Ram Nasr on the Buzuq, Hazem Al-Halabi on percussion, Jawad Masoud on the drums, in the field of playing and in the field of singing, Hala Daabal, Lilian Mezher / Lujain Zuweid/ Hala Al-Barbour/.

As for the graduates category, Firas Shea on the flute/ Daniel Al Harfouch on the Buzuq/ Sarah Jarbou on the cello/ Amir Al Baroki on the drums/ while the jury consisted of the director of the institute and heads of departments in it.

Nafaa also pointed out that this competition will be the beginning of the establishment of many similar initiatives in the fields of playing and singing, noting that a project is currently being prepared for a special competition for the oud instrument called the Farid Al-Atrash Competition by holding more concerts for the students of the Institute, which will contribute to enhancing the spirit of competition among them and developing their capabilities. and hone their talents and skills.

It is noteworthy that the Farid Al-Atrash Institute for Arabic Music in Sweida opened in 2009 and began training in it on the fourteenth of February 2010. It aims to discover the talents and creativity of children in the field of singing, music, playing instruments and theater in order to refine, adopt and put them on the right path.
