The participants in the conference entitled “Hope in Agriculture” recommended the necessity to continue granting certificates of origin for agricultural products to all countries of the world, to activate and develop the work of the Livestock Services Fund, and to follow up the planting of fruit trees in the regions and municipalities of Damascus and its countryside, calling for encouraging internal investment in production, marketing and manufacturing, and motivating farmers to increase irrigated areas. and use
Modern irrigation and the creation of a company, institution or association affiliated with the Chamber with the aim of facilitating economic and commercial business or re-working the Agricultural Exporters Association “Sabia”.
The head of the Damascus Chamber of Agriculture, Bashar Al-Malik, explained in his speech during the conference that the economic conditions and changes witnessed by the entire world reflected negatively on the food sector, which is based on agriculture and agricultural industrialization in both its plant and animal parts, since Syria is a country that relies mainly on plant and animal products in securing food for local consumption and export, in addition To the difficulties of transportation internally and externally, especially the process of importing basic materials and production requirements.
Head of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Office in Damascus, Dr. Wissam Nasrallah, confirmed that the Syrian people have passed the most dangerous stages and become more self-reliant, pointing out that the convening of the conference is evidence of the importance of planning and striving to advance the agricultural situation, secure production requirements, and overcome the obstacles that farmers face organizationally and logistically to achieve and provide Everything a citizen needs.
In a similar statement between the Director of Agriculture in Damascus and its countryside, Eng. Irfan Ziadeh, the ministry is working to overcome obstacles facing farmers and solve their problems in a participatory manner, in order to reach a developmental agricultural sector based on sound scientific foundations and advance it after what it has suffered as a result of terrorism during the past years.
And the Chamber's Secretary, Muhammad Janan, said in a statement to SANA that the Chamber constantly seeks to improve the agricultural situation in order to support the national economy and secure safe and sound food and to find solutions to the challenges facing agricultural work and animal production in partnership with all parties working in this sector.
The conference included honoring about 20 agricultural engineers, farmers and livestock breeders, in addition to several artistic and dance performances by Ajyal Troupe.
